Position: Technical & Commercial Product Manager

Location: Waukegan, IL or remote home office based

Area of Responsibility: The Technical & Commercial Product Manager is responsible for the management of the agricultural adjuvant portfolio, including product lifecycles, product pricing, promotional and launch programs, and portfolio profitability. The Product Manager is also responsible for field related product development initiatives that are focused on testing multiple formulations for efficacy and fit across a broad and diverse geography in support of product launch. Activities will also include managing market development projects with customers, maintaining relationships with industry, research and academic contacts, presentation of technical information at industry, customer and end-user meetings and contributions to sales and marketing support materials.

Accountabilities:

  • Product positioning, messaging, and product lifecycle management.
  • Customer pricing, programs and base-line margins.
  • Provide in field technical support and sales assistance to sales personnel both in-person and virtually as requested.
  • Technical sales presentations for training purposes that includes internal sales team members and customers.
  • Lead collaboration on product line additions and portfolio management with internal and external stakeholders to capture targeted markets.
  • Coordinate and execute market development activities needed to validate product performance, generate marketing materials, document safety, and demonstrate market fit with customers.
  • Develop and execute field research projects with input from product development, product management and sales.
  • COI relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree with 10-12 years of experience or an advanced degree in Agronomy, Plant or Soil Science or related fields of study with 8-10 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated competency as a subject matter expert in assigned product category.
  • Knowledge of products, practices, and commercial landscape within the industry.
  • Excellent communication capabilities via written, oral, and public presentations.
  • Organizational capabilities consistent with the requirements for a productive, effective, and successful remote office based professional.
  • Analytical competence to complete statistical analysis of product evaluations.

Expected Contributions and Results:

  • Develop pricing strategies to gain or retain business in line with company goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Sales Management in meeting with customers to determine product needs and new product opportunities.
  • Develop technical support materials to aid marketing and sales training initiatives.
  • Collaboration on formulation development and making recommendations for product commercialization.
  • Develop, document and report field trial data both internally and with customers in support of the product line.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in both an indoor office and field settings
  • Physical effort is needed to move, lift, or carry office equipment or supplies or conduct field trial activities is required.
  • Use of computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25 -30% depending on peak periods
  • Ability to work safety in field environments, that may include extended periods of travel via automobile or other means of transportation.
