“We’re an inch and a half golf course as far as rains go. Anything more and you’re looking at a day before you can get back out there,” says Benedict. “We’ve always used Cascade Plus™ on the greens, tees and approaches to drive the water down to create a dryer surface area.”
Because the water table is so high – only 30 inches to ground water – Benedict is unable to irrigate fairways with substantial amounts of water. Even with conditions such as high heat and humidity, he can only irrigate some fairways three-to-six minutes each night.
To round out the Zone portfolio of products, Benedict uses EZ Tabs™ as part of the bunker application to further increase water infiltration. He uses Magnus™ to spread water uniformly, which targets water in the upper soil profile. Duplex™ is used at Seawane to improve certain pesticide applications to reduce the surface tension of water, allowing for better penetration.
“Water management issues at Seawane may be more extreme than most courses, but it reinforces the results you can expect from Precision Zone surfactants,” said Don Spier, vice president of turf and ornamentals at Precision Laboratories. “No matter which irrigation challenges you face, Zone surfactants provide added control and increased efficiency.”
